Job summary

Battery Park City Authority seeks a Special Counsel, Capital Projects to join a seven-member legal team and report to the General Counsel. You will be the primary in-house construction counsel on a $2 billion North-West Resiliency Project.

Responsibilities include negotiating access/easement agreements, advising on delay claims and change orders, and coordinating with outside counsel. NY bar admission and 8+ years in construction law preferred.

Qualifications

• J.D. required; admission to New York State Bar.
• At least 8 years of legal experience, 3+ years in construction law preferred.
• Must be admitted to practice law in New York.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-house construction counsel on BPCA North-West Resiliency Project.
• Negotiate access and easement agreements, advise on delay claims and change orders.
• Oversee external construction counsel and report project risks to leadership.
• Collaborate with project staff, legal team, and senior management on solutions.
• Assist with potential project litigation and environmental review matters.
• Review procurement memoranda for capital construction projects.
