A leading privately owned homebuilder is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its Houston-based legal team and play a key role in supporting its continued growth and development.

This is an excellent opportunity for a real estate attorney looking to move into, or progress within, a sophisticated in-house environment where they can take meaningful ownership of transactions and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

The role will focus heavily on real estate transactions and project development, with exposure across the full lifecycle of residential development, including acquisitions, dispositions, development and construction.

The Role:

As Senior Counsel, you will advise the business on a broad range of complex real estate matters, working closely with development, acquisitions, construction and other internal teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and advising on real estate acquisitions and dispositions, including the negotiation and execution of purchase and sale agreements.
• Supporting the development of residential communities and projects, from initial acquisition through development and completion.
• Negotiating and advising on development agreements, easements, restrictive covenants, entitlements, zoning and other land-use matters.
• Advising on construction-related agreements and issues, working closely with internal construction and development teams.
• Managing and coordinating external counsel where appropriate.
• Providing practical, commercially focused legal advice to senior business stakeholders.
• Identifying and managing legal and commercial risks across a broad portfolio of real estate projects.
• Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure transactions and projects progress efficiently and in line with the company's objectives.
