Job description

Warren Recruiting has been exclusively retained by a premier, elite-tier Houston-based law firm to identify a high-caliber Senior Real Estate Attorney or Real Estate Counsel. This is a pivotal role within one of the region’s most prestigious real estate law practices, managing some of the most sophisticated property transactions in the Texas market.

Our client is a dominant force in both Texas and national legal landscapes, renowned for handling complex commercial real estate transactions for a roster of blue-chip clients, including prominent real estate developers, private equity funds, institutional investors, and operators. This firm provides the sophisticated work of a global real estate legal practice alongside the unique culture, stability, and dedicated focus of a homegrown Houston institution.

The Role

This is a high-impact position designed for an experienced real estate lawyer ready to manage complex transactional real estate matters autonomously. You will bridge the gap between deep legal expertise and commercial property execution, serving as a primary point of contact for sophisticated clients and driving deals to efficient, successful conclusions.

  • Property Development Lifecycle: Counsel clients through the entire development process, including zoning and land use regulations, construction contracts, operational agreements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Institutional Leasing Programs: Lead comprehensive, multi-market leasing strategies for sophisticated institutional landlordclients across office, retail, and industrial portfolios.
  • Strategic Client Partnership: Act as a crucial business and legal advisor to client C‑Suite executives, private equity partners, and acquisition teams, aligning real estate legal advice with broader business objectives.
  • Mentor and Manage: Supervise junior real estate associates and paralegals on transaction execution, due diligence management, and title and survey review.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Texas Licensed: Must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • Years of Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of dedicated, sophisticated real estate transactional experience (acquisitions, development, and joint ventures) within a robust law firm practice group or as in‑house counsel.
  • Premier Credentials: Outstanding academic credentials (J.D.) from a top-tier law school and proven experience with high‑stakes transactional work.
  • Asset Class Versatility: Proven track record handling diverse property types (multi-family, retail, and office are essential; industrial or hospitality experience is a plus).
  • Commercial Mindset: Solutions‑oriented approach; you understand that legal risk must be balanced with business velocity.
  • Houston Based: A commitment to the Houston, Texas real estate market and the desire to build a career at a premier local firm.
What’s on Offer
  • Premier Compensation: A top‑of‑market compensation structure, with base and bonus opportunities commensurate with a premier national law firm.
  • Market‑Leading Benefits: Comprehensive and premium health, dental, and vision benefits, and a generous matching 401(k).
  • Sophisticated Work: The opportunity to manage complex, headline‑making deals for the region’s most significant real estate players.
  • True Career Path: A clear, meritorious path to Counsel or Partnership status in a stable, profitable, and respected firm.
