Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to support complex Life Sciences construction projects in the Boston area. You will act as the key client interface, delivering value-added cost management across manufacturing, laboratory, and related capital programs.

The role requires excellent communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to lead cost management activities, mentor talent, and work independently within multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in cost management within construction.
• RICS accreditation preferred or working towards it.
• Experience leading cost management on medium to large, high-complexity projects.
• Construction consultancy experience strongly preferred.
• Good knowledge of procurement routes, value management and value engineering.

Responsibilities

• Estimating and negotiating change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Provide estimate and cost planning, including producing and presenting the final cost plan.
• Review and participate with the design services team and general contractor in the development of cost estimates.
• Reconcile changes and assist the general contractor to ensure data accuracy.
• Prepare cost estimates updates and executive summaries for stakeholders.
• Coordinate all sources of cost information for discussions with subs, NPA, and other sources.
• Develop cost plans and estimates through the design phase with milestone updates.
• Provide input into design optioneering and value engineering exercises.
• Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations to secure fair prices.
• Perform quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure post-contract cost variances and change control processes are well managed.
