Job summary

Jobot in Chicago is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to join our construction consulting team. You will prepare detailed estimates for diverse projects, from take-offs to bid‑ready analyses, collaborating with Owners, Architects, and GCs.

This full‑time, permanent role is hybrid for local candidates with some remote flexibility; travel to the office may be required for non‑Chicago candidates. We offer strong compensation, bonus, benefits, PTO, 401K, and growth opportunities.

Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 per year

Location: Chicagoland; hybrid role if located in Chicago, remote in other states expected to visit office every 4-6 weeks.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Cost Estimator to join our team. This is a full‑time, permanent position. This person should be located in the Chicagoland area, and there is some remote flexibility with this role. As a Senior Cost Estimator, you will be a crucial part of our construction operations, providing detailed cost estimates for a variety of projects. Responsibilities

1. Conducting detailed quantity take-offs and preparing cost estimates for construction projects across all CSI divisions.
2. Evaluating and analyzing data to accurately forecast the cost, size, and duration of future projects.
3. Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.
4. Preparing and presenting cost reports and analyses to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to guide decision‑making.
5. Reviewing and updating existing cost estimating tools and methodologies to ensure their accuracy and effectiveness.
6. Identifying and mitigating potential risks to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
7. Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and construction materials to inform cost estimation.

Qualifications

1. 5-10 years of experience in cost estimation within the construction industry - must have experience working for an estimating firm, construction consulting firm, or something similar.
2. Proven experience with quantity take-offs and estimating across all CSI divisions.
3. Exceptional analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
4. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to a variety of stakeholders.
5. Proficiency in industry‑standard cost estimating software and tools.
6. A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
7. Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) are a plus.
