Job Summary:

DME, a fast-growing engineering and construction management company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Estimator with over 15 years of experience in heavy construction and project controls. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing cost estimation processes, overseeing change orders, and collaborating with senior management. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage detailed cost estimates for large construction projects from inception to completion.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates.
• Oversee the change order process, ensuring all changes are documented, evaluated, and communicated effectively.
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to assess the impact of changes on project budgets and schedules.
• Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Prepare regular cost reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
• Work closely with project scheduling teams to ensure that cost estimates align with project timelines.
• Assess the financial implications of schedule changes and delays.
• Identify potential risks associated with cost estimates and develop mitigation strategies.
• Conduct risk assessments and present findings to senior management.
• Generate comprehensive reports on cost performance, change orders, and risk assessments.
• Present technical data and analysis to CTOs and other senior executives in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field (Master is preferred).
• 15+ years of cost estimating experience in engineering, construction management, cost estimation and project controls.
• Strong expertise in infrastructure, industrial, or commercial construction, with knowledge of MEP, structural, and civil systems.
• Proficiency in at least one of the estimating software (ProEst, CostX, RSMeans, Sage, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, cost databases).
• Experience with design-build, CMAR (Construction Management at Risk), and GMP contracts.
• Basic Familiarity with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and risk analysis tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills for client and stakeholder interactions.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to develop and manage detailed project estimates.
• Experience with project management platforms (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) for schedule management and reporting.
