Loos & Co in Pomfret, CT seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to lead product costing, variances, and inventory valuation in a manufacturing setting. You will own standard costing, WIP, and finishing the month-end close with cross-functional partners in Operations and Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) in costing/manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, BOMs, routings, production orders, variances, and inventory accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills (variance analysis, reconciliations, large datasets).
• Strong documentation skills and comfort in audit-reviewed environments.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain product costing, including BOMs, routings, labor, overhead, and machine rates in D365 F&O.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead, purchase price, production) and partner with Operations and Engineering to explain and resolve drivers.
• Ensure accurate work order and production order costing, including proper closure and issue resolution.
• Monitor and correct inventory valuation, WIP, and manufacturing absorption accounts.
• Identify costing errors and lead root-cause analysis with corrective actions within D365.
• Serve as the Finance SME for D365 F&O costing, inventory, and production modules.
