What is this role?

The Senior Cost Accountant manages cost accounting functions, including product cost analysis, inventory valuation, and cost reporting. This role ensures accurate cost tracking, supports decision-making, and works closely with cross-functional teams to optimize costs and improve financial performance.

Driving Results:

Oversee costing processes, ensuring accurate product cost calculations and reporting.
Analyze cost reports to identify variances and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
Ensure accurate inventory valuation and monitor cost trends.
Assists with inventory forecasting.

Taking Ownership:

Manage standard costing and integrate cost data into financial reporting.
Lead cost analysis projects and maintain cost control policies.
Ensure timely, accurate cost reporting for senior management.

Making Decisions:

Provide insights to management on cost impact and recommend cost optimization.
Collaborate with operations teams to improve production cost efficiency.

Cultivating Relationships:

Work with cross-functional teams to align cost data with production processes.
Communicate cost structures to internal stakeholders to guide financial decisions.

Instilling Trust:

Ensure cost accounting practices comply with GAAP and company policies.
Maintain reliable cost data to support informed decision-making.

Customer Focus:

Align cost management with customer-driven goals and profitability.

What Background Should You Have?

5+ years in cost accounting or financial roles in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient in cost analysis, standard costing, and inventory valuation.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strong Excel and ERP system skills, experience with Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
