Job summary

Laborie is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to reinforce the Finance team with close involvement in inventory and cost reporting across locations. You will support month‑end close, variance analysis, and standard costing while partnering with operations on forecasts, budgets, and cost‑reduction initiatives.

You will analyze labor and overhead variances, maintain standard costs in the ERP, and prepare production KPI reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field.
• 7+ years in accounting/finance with emphasis on operations/manufacturing.
• 3–5 years experience with SAP.
• Advanced MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
• Professional communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Support month‑end close activities including inventory, COGS, variances, journal entries, reconciliations, standard costing, and audit support.
• Partner with operations on forecasting, AOP, budgets, and cost‑saving initiatives (Kaizen, VSM, Six Sigma).
• Research, calculate, and analyze labor, overhead, and material variances; maintain product costs in ERP.
• Prepare financial models and KPI reports (make/buy decisions, capital expenditure requests).
• Assist with SAP/ERP implementations and system enhancements.

Who We’re Looking For:

As a key member of the Finance team, the Senior Cost Accountant will support the operations financial close for varied locations and prepare monthly financial reporting including KPIs to review with Finance, Plant Managers, and operations teams. The Senior Cost Accountant will support the team in all aspects of inventory including month-end reconciliation, excess and obsolete reserve analysis, and cycle counting analysi s.

About the Role:

• Month ‑ End & Cost Accounting: Support month ‑ end close activities including inventory, COGS, manufacturing variances, capital expenditures, journal entries, reconciliations, standard costing, and audit support.
• Operations Finance Partnership: Serve as a key business partner to operations, supporting forecasting, AOP, budgets, strategic planning, capital spend planning, and cost ‑ savings initiatives (Kaizen, VSM, Six Sigma).
• Costing & Variance Analysis: Research, calculate, and analyze labor, overhead, and material variances; review bills of materials; establish and maintain accurate product and standard costs in the ERP system.
• Reporting, Modeling & Decision Support: Prepare financial models and analyses (e.g., make/buy decisions), production efficiency metrics, capital expenditure requests, and operational performance reports.
• Inventory & Systems Support: Support physical inventories and cycle counts, ensure accurate inventory valuation, and assist with SAP/ERP implementations and system enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in Accounting or Finance positions with the majority in operations and/or manufacturing.
• 3 -5 years experience with SAP
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI
• Demonstrated professionalism in written and verbal communications, ability to effectively work with a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 - 5 years’ experience with SAP
• CPA / CMA / MBA preferred
• Exposure to Planful, BPC, Oracle EPM, Blackline helpful
