Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated in Largo, FL, seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to lead standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost analysis across complex manufacturing operations. You will own the SAP standard cost roll, month-end close, and onsite inventory processes, partnering with operations to drive cost insights and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience, strong SAP knowledge, US GAAP/SOX expertise, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP, especially standard costing, inventory, fixed assets, and cost center accounting.
• Deep understanding of US GAAP, inventory valuation methodologies, and internal control frameworks (SOX).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, PivotTables); OneStream a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure the accuracy of standard costs across BOMs, routings, labor, and overhead.
• Lead the annual SAP standard cost roll.
• Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, inventory valuation, cost variance analysis, and reconciliations.
• Partner with operations to analyze production costs, identify cost drivers, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify root causes of process or control failures and implement corrective actions.
• Provide onsite financial support for annual physical inventory and cycle counting.
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies, US GAAP, and SOX; strengthen financial processes.
• Provide financial and operational performance data to plant leadership and corporate stakeholders.

Based in Largo FL and reporting directly to the Protection & Controls Controller, the Senior Cost Accountant will serve as a key member of the Finance team and have responsibility for a variety of costing and inventory activities. This position is principally responsible for leading standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost analysis across complex manufacturing operations. Ensuring accuracy, compliance, and actionable insight for plant leadership. This role owns the annual SAP standard cost roll, month-end close activities, and onsite inventory processes, while partnering closely with operations to identify cost drivers and support continuous improvement.

• Maintain and ensure the accuracy of standard costs, including Bill of Materials, routings, labor, and overhead rates across diverse manufacturing processes.
• Lead the planning and execution of the annual standard cost roll in SAP, ensuring accuracy and alignment with operational changes.
• Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, inventory valuation, cost variance analysis, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Partner with operations to classify and analyze production costs, identify cost drivers, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and address root causes of process or control failures, implementing corrective actions to enhance financial accuracy, compliance, and operational discipline.
• Onsite financial support for the annual physical inventory and the ongoing cycle counting program.
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies, US GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, while identifying opportunities to strengthen financial processes.
• Provide financial and operational performance data to plant leadership and corporate stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s or MBA a plus)
• CPA or CMA certification a strong plus
• 2-5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience. (multi-product line and/or greenfield experience a plus)
• Strong working knowledge of SAP, especially related to standard costing, inventory, fixed asset, and cost center accounting
• Deep understanding of US GAAP, inventory valuation methodologies, and internal control frameworks (SOX)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, PivotTables); experience with OneStream a plus
• Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment
• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakesholders
• Demonstrated leadership and initiative with a continuous improvement mindset
