Responsibilities

• Manage product costing, including materials, labor, overhead, BOMs, routings, and variances.
• Reconcile inventory accounts (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) to the general ledger.
• Review production activity and work orders to ensure costs are captured accurately.
• Support month-end close with journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Analyze variances and inventory discrepancies to drive cost improvements.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization in Duluth. This hands-on role will oversee cost accounting, inventory, WIP, product costing, manufacturing analysis, and related accounting processes.

The ideal candidate understands the complete manufacturing cycle, from purchasing raw materials through production, finished goods, and cost of goods sold.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage product costing, including materials, labor, overhead, BOMs, routings, and manufacturing variances.
• Reconcile raw materials, WIP, finished goods, inventory adjustments, and cost of goods sold to the general ledger.
• Review production activity and work orders to ensure costs are accurately captured and orders are properly closed.
• Analyze manufacturing variances, inventory discrepancies, and excess or obsolete inventory.
• Support month-end close through journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, inventory analysis, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including at least three years in cost accounting.
• Manufacturing accounting experience involving inventory, WIP, product costing, BOMs, production orders, and variance analysis.
• Strong understanding of how manufacturing activity affects inventory, cost of goods sold, and the general ledger.
• Advanced Excel skills; CPA or CMA is a plus.
