Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to support inventory valuation, cost reporting, and month-end close activities for a manufacturing client in Manor, TX. You will partner with operations to ensure accurate costing and financial analysis.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting with cost responsibilities, manufacturing exposure, strong Excel and ERP skills, and a solid GAAP foundation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with cost accounting responsibilities.
• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of inventory and cost accounting, GAAP, and journal entries.
• Advanced Excel and experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Support inventory accounting activities, including reconciliations and cycle counts.
• Contribute to month-end close with inventory-related journal entries and reconciliations.
• Analyze labor, overhead, and material costs from production orders.
• Collaborate with operations to support work order processing and costing.
• Prepare inventory and cost reports to aid decision-making and ensure GAAP compliance.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to support inventory accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, and month-end close activities within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role will partner closely with operations and production teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation, cost reporting, and financial analysis.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Support inventory accounting activities, including inventory reconciliations, cycle count analysis, material receipts, and inventory balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with month-end close processes, including inventory-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and inventory aging analysis to identify and reduce obsolete inventory.
• Analyze labor, overhead, and material costs from production work orders to ensure accurate costing and pricing alignment.
• Partner with operations and production teams to support work order processing and manufacturing cost accounting activities.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between inventory ledgers and subledgers.
• Monitor inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Prepare and analyze inventory and cost accounting reports to support business decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including significant cost accounting responsibilities.
• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of:
• Inventory accounting
• Cost accounting
• Revenue recognition
• Experience performing account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience working with ERP systems.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Experience with Sage X3 ERP.
• Experience within a global manufacturing organization.

Reporting Structure

• Reports directly to the Cost Accounting Manager.
