South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a supervisory professional to oversee security personnel and inmates in housing units. You will supervise staff, conduct inspections, investigations and counts, and ensure safety, security and sanitation standards are met.

Eight weeks of SCDC Basic Training are required upon hire, with certification and a six-month supervisory course completion expected. Statewide operations emphasize equal opportunity employment and professional conduct.

Formación

• High school diploma required; relevant experience accepted.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for part of the required experience.
• Criminal justice degree may substitute for half of the required experience.
• Certification by the SCDC Training Academy is required.
• Must successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise subordinate security assigned to housing units.
• Make routine inspections of living areas for security, safety and sanitation.
• Conduct investigations of alleged misconduct by inmates and staff.
• Assist in conducting formal and informal counts.
• Supervise performance, conduct and appearance of staff; prepare evaluations.
• Counsel, recommend disciplinary action and train subordinates to required standards.
• Prepare reports as needed or required.
