The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) in Maryland seeks qualified candidates for a Training Coordinator role at Howard County/Jessup. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described by MPCTC regulations.
• Three years of experience as a Correctional Officer involving custody and security of adult inmates.
• Notes: substitution of additional education for experience allowed per MPCTC regulation and guidance.
• Notes: substitution of equivalent state correctional service experience or US Armed Forces service allowed on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and facilitate designed curricula to ensure compliance with MPCTC or other regulatory standards.
• Demonstrate professional training methods to enhance adult learning in classroom and field.
• Maintain institutional training records and ensure staff meet required training hours for certification.
• Assist Regional Training Coordinator with training needs assessment, program design, and evaluation of effectiveness.
• Supervise Institutional Trainer and manage scheduling of instructors and participants.
• Create monthly training schedules, prepare classrooms and materials, and track participation.
• Address logistical or programmatic issues as they arise.
• Collect and report training data for the institution.
• Attend Department Head/Staff meetings and relay feedback to leadership.
