Job summary

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) in Maryland is seeking qualified candidates for an Institutional Trainer role at the Howard County/Jessup institutions. The incumbent will deliver curriculum, apply adult learning techniques, and ensure training records and certifications are maintained.

Responsibilities include scheduling, data collection, and compliance with training standards, with potential supervisory duties over an Institutional Trainer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or high school equivalency acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Correctional Training Commission regulation.
• Three years of experience as a Correctional Officer involving the custody and security of adult inmates.

Responsibilities

• Instructs/facilitates a designed curriculum to ensure compliance with MPCTC standards or other regulatory agency.
• Demonstrates professional training methods to enhance adult learning in classroom and field.
• Maintains and reports on institutional training records and ensures staff obtain required training hours to maintain certification.
• May assist Regional Training Coordinator in assessing training needs and evaluating training effectiveness.
• Supervises an Institutional Trainer.
