Job summary

The State of Maryland DPSCS is seeking a dedicated candidate to coordinate professional development and continuing education for the Baltimore region. The position includes supervisory responsibilities for internal audits, training compliance, and supervising Institutional Training Specialists within the region.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent per Maryland standards.
• Experience: Two years leading Correctional Officers in custody/security of inmates or related correctional roles.
• Substitutions: college credits or equivalent state experience may substitute for the required experience.
• Selection standards: U.S. citizenship/residency, age minimum, background check, interview, and medical examination.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate training program delivery by regional instructors and fill gaps as needed.
• Coordinate and facilitate staff meetings with Regional Staff and report to the Regional Captain.
• Support development of Institutional Training Coordinators and adjunct faculty.
• Monitor pre-service and in-service training for compliance with guidelines and policies.
• Conduct pre-service orientation or designate a designee.
• Provide final evaluations of provisional instructors before MPCTC submission.
• Serve as liaison between Wardens and Regional Training Coordinator within the region.
• Attend Warden meetings and provide feedback to the Regional Captain.
