Job summary

FIS, Inc. in Atlanta seeks an experienced in-house attorney to lead the legal function supporting financial technology and payments initiatives. You will advise on product development, commercial contracts, data practices, and regulatory matters across North America.

Ideal candidates bring a J.D. with bar admission and 7–10 years of relevant in-house experience, with strong drafting, research, and strategic thinking skills to partner with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active bar membership in at least one state.
• 7–10 years of relevant in-house experience in financial services/tech preferred.
• Strong communication, research, writing and analytical skills.
• Ability to review complex issues and counsel on regulatory questions.
• Experience advising clients in a global organization.
• Experience managing multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-starter with ability to work with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational direction to the legal team aligned with corporate objectives.
• Provide strategic legal advice on product development, go-to-market, and production support.
• Support commercial contracts with banks and credit unions across North America.
• Assist with strategic partnerships with financial services and technology providers.
• Communicate with executive leadership and strategic stakeholders.
• Act as a thought leader on emerging legal trends and best practices.
• Develop and implement strategic goals and initiatives for the legal function.
• Improve processes and implement standards impacting functional results.
• Oversee IP strategy, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
