Job summary

FIS is seeking an experienced in-house attorney to lead the Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs team. You will guide strategic legal counsel across banking, payments and data practices and partner with executives to advance corporate objectives.

You will advise on product development, go-to-market strategies, and key commercial contracts with banks and credit unions in North America, while overseeing IP and regulatory issues in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active bar membership required.
• 7–10 years of in-house experience in financial services or technology.
• Experience with payments, banking and data practices preferred.
• Strong communication, research, writing and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational direction to the legal team, aligning with corporate objectives.
• Offer strategic legal advice on product development, go-to-market and production support.
• Support Enterprise Account Managers in commercial contracts with banks and credit unions in North America.
• Foster partnerships with leading financial services providers and emerging technology partners.
• Communicate with executive leadership and strategic stakeholders.
• Act as a thought leader on emerging legal trends and best practices.
• Develop strategic goals and implement initiatives to support organizational goals.
• Develop and implement new processes, standards or plans impacting functional results.
• Improve existing processes and manage IP strategy including trademarks, patents, and copyrights, with due diligence.
