Job summary

Meritum Energy Holdings seeks a Senior Corporate Counsel to provide legal support across the company and affiliated brands, with a focus on commercial contracts and claims management across a multi-state fleet. The role drafts and negotiates MSAs and energy/service contracts, directs outside counsel, and partners with Risk Management, Safety, and Operations to reduce legal exposure.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active Texas license.
• 5–8 years of relevant legal experience in commercial contracts and insurance defense/litigation.
• Experience in energy, transportation, or trucking industries strongly preferred.
• Experience with contract management systems and/or legal matter management software.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate MSAs, transportation/energy contracts, NDAs and vendor agreements.
• Advise operations on contract risk, indemnification, insurance, and liability provisions.
• Direct outside counsel; set litigation strategy and budget expectations.
• Coordinate with risk management, safety, and fleet leadership to reduce exposure.
• Support RFPs and vendor selection with contract risk review.
• Escalate significant legal risk to CEO; manage day-to-day matters.
