Job summary

Strategic Employment Partners (SEP) partners with a growing Irvine technology company to hire a Senior Corporate Counsel who will own the commercial and corporate legal workload as the business scales. You will sit in a small, high-functioning legal team and work with leadership across product, finance and marketing on core deals and agreements.

This hybrid role in Irvine includes full benefits, a performance bonus and a 6% 401(k) employer match.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in-house at a tech or software company, with firm background acceptable.
• Hands-on experience negotiating vendor contracts, SaaS, licensing and partnerships.
• Daily use of AI tools in legal work and workflow.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and lead the in-house counsel function over time.

Job description

We are working with a growing technology company in Irvine that is looking to add a Senior Corporate Counsel to take ownership of the commercial and corporate legal workload as the company scales. This person will sit inside a small, high-functioning legal team and work directly with leadership across product, finance, and marketing on deals and agreements that touch the core of how the business operates.

Desired Skills

• 7+ years of experience with a background that includes time in-house at a technology or software company. Some law firm experience early in a career is fine, but candidates who have never moved beyond the law firm environment and into a true counsel role will not be a strong fit
• Hands-on experience negotiating and closing vendor contracts, SaaS agreements, marketing and influencer agreements, licensing arrangements, and strategic partnerships, with the ability to think through business risk rather than just legal risk
• Active daily use of AI tools in legal work. The team has fully adopted AI into their workflow and this is a baseline expectation, not a nice to have
• Experience mentoring junior legal staff and the ability to take ownership of the in-house counsel function with a clear path to grow into a leadership role over time
