Job summary

Cortland is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant in Atlanta, GA, to support our corporate accounting and reporting across operations including aviation. You will lead close cycles, prepare journal entries and financial statements, and partner with multiple teams to drive accuracy and compliance.

The role emphasizes process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and development within a high-growth multifamily real estate organization. A CPA or progression toward it is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close for assigned corporate entities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Analyze monthly results and investigate variances.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure records comply with U.S. GAAP and policy.
• Support accounting for corporate operations, assets, leases, and intercompany transactions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on accounting and reporting matters.
• Support reporting across Cortland's corporate and real estate platforms.
• Prepare schedules for internal/external audits.
• Contribute to internal controls and process improvements.
• Assist with regulatory, tax, and financial reporting requirements.
