Job summary

Sullivan & Cromwell seeks a Senior Coordinator for Learning & Development within the Legal Talent Office to plan, coordinate, and execute the Firm’s educational programs for lawyers. You will manage scheduling, communications with lawyers, and coordinate logistics with internal teams to ensure programs run smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute the Firm’s educational programs for lawyers across seniority levels.
  • Manage logistics and operations for multi-day programs and orientation activities.
  • Maintain the educational program calendar and coordinate with lawyers to schedule programs.
  • Coordinate program logistics with internal teams (Media, Conference and Dining Services, Security).
  • Coordinate with external vendors for scheduling, materials, and logistics.
  • Monitor emails and inquiries regarding programs and respond promptly.
  • Provide on-site logistical support during programs and coordinate with presenters to provide CLE codes.
  • Be flexible to work outside standard hours when needed; overtime is available.

Job description

This position will serve as a Senior Coordinator for the Learning & Development team, which is part of the Legal Talent Office, and will be responsible for the logistical and operational work required to plan, coordinate, and execute the Firm’s educational programs for lawyers. This includes corresponding with lawyers to schedule and organize programs as well as coordinating logistics with internal teams (Media, Conference and Dining Services, etc.) to ensure each program is executed successfully.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
  • Plan, organize, and execute the Firm’s educational programs for lawyers across all seniority levels and practice groups.
  • Manage the logistics and operations for the programs, including multi-day programs such as new associate and summer associate orientation, practice group academies and other large-scale/multi-day programs, short CLE programs, and practice group meetings.
  • Maintain the educational program calendar and coordinate with lawyers to schedule programs, respond to questions, and communicate relevant program details.
  • Coordinate all program logistics with internal teams, including Media, Conference and Dining Services, Building Security, and other departments.
  • Coordinate with external vendors involved in educational programming, including managing scheduling, materials, logistics, and other program requirements.
  • Monitor and respond promptly to emails and other inquiries regarding programs.
  • Attend educational programs, which occur multiple times each week, to provide on-site logistical support along with assistant(s), assist participating lawyers, and coordinate with internal teams to address any issues involving technology, room arrangements, catering, or other program needs. Coordinate with presenters to provide CLE codes and display CLE sign in sheets where applicable.
  • Maintain flexibility to work outside standard office hours on occasion, including arriving early or staying late, as needed to support educational programs. Overtime is available.

In addition, responsibilities related to maintaining firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees. This includes complying with the firm’s information security policies, protecting firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate staffing coverage and assign assistant(s) to provide on-site support, particularly whenmultiple programs are scheduled at the same time, to ensure each program has in-person support.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Must be able to juggle multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint preferred
  • Experience with CLE, CE Manager, viDesktop, or other LMS preferred
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Event planning/coordinating experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience working at a law firm or similarly fast-paced professional services environment required

COMPENSATION

The base salary range offered for this role will be between $85,000 and $95,000. When determining a candidate's compensation offer, elements unique to each person are taken into consideration including but not limited to skill set, experience level, performance, professional certifications, degrees and location, as well as the needs of the Firm. The total compensation package for this position may include overtime pay, discretionary bonuses and other benefits.
