Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to design controls and instrumentation for custom industrial systems in Vallejo, CA. You will own PLC/HMI programming across platforms, review P&IDs, and collaborate closely with engineering, sales, operations, and field teams.

You’ll lead commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer interface, driving system performance improvements. A bachelor’s degree in EE and 10+ years’ controls experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of controls engineering experience in OEM or industrial environments.
• Strong PLC programming with major platforms.
• Experience designing industrial control panels and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with P&IDs, process controls, VFDs, and NEC/NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Design controls and instrumentation for custom industrial systems.
• Develop and modify PLC/HMI programs on multiple platforms.
• Review P&IDs and select instrumentation and components.
• Collaborate with panel fabricators from design to as-built documentation.
• Support testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
• Interface with customers to resolve technical issues.
• Identify improvements to performance, reliability, and cost.
