Job summary

Corning Incorporated seeks a controls engineer to design, develop, program, implement and optimize control systems for its cable manufacturing processes. You will provide technical leadership, improving product performance, reliability and safety while mentoring junior engineers.

The role focuses on Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI/SCADA integration, and cross-functional collaboration to drive process improvements and cost reductions in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 4+ years manufacturing experience with HMI/SCADA systems programming PLCs/HMIs/VFDs in a plant environment.
• Ability to generate, debug and modify PLC code – ladder logic, structured text and function block diagram.
• Strong understanding of electrical design practices, machine/motion control, E&C systems, VFD/Servo programming, and drawings in AutoCAD Electrical 2021.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in solving problems and elevating issues to resolution.
• Design and implement robust automation and process control systems (e.g., Allen Bradley PLC programs) for fiber optic cable production.
• Mentor junior controls engineers and manage project scope for process improvement and equipment reliability.
• Interface with system integrators to deliver fully integrated process equipment at Corning.
• Participate in all project phases from design to installation and start-up.
