Job summary

Applied Industrial Controls (AIC) is seeking a seasoned Controls Engineer to design UL508A panels, program PLCs and HMIs, and commission VFDs for OEM, municipal, and industrial clients across the Southeast.

You will own projects end-to-end, communicate with customers and panel builders, and deliver high-quality automation solutions using Siemens, ABB, Eaton, and Mitsubishi platforms within an NEC-compliant framework.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in industrial controls engineering design, programming, and project delivery.
• Proficient in PLC programming (ladder logic), HMI development, and VFD commissioning.
• Solid knowledge of UL508A/CSA 22.2 standards, NEC codes, NEMA ratings, and component specs.
• Experience with Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet, Modbus 485.
• Proficient with EPLAN Electric P8 for schematics and panel layouts.
• Strong communication with customers, engineers, and panel assembly teams.
• Execution-focused with ability to manage multiple projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Design industrial control panels to UL508A and CSA 22.2 standards in NEC-compliant ways.
• Create 2D/3D electrical schematics, BOMs, and panel layouts using EPLAN Electric P8.
• Select components to meet project specs (sensors, VFDs, HMIs, etc.).
• Program PLCs and HMIs, configure VFDs, and commission systems.
• Read project plans, prepare submittals, and manage customer interactions.
