Job summary

Engtal is seeking a Senior Controls/Automation Engineer to join the Evansville, IN engineering team. The role focuses on hands-on PLC/HMI development, industrial controls integration, and system modernization for diverse manufacturing customers.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of controls experience, proficiency with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, and PanelView, and are comfortable traveling up to 25% to support installations and commissioning.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of controls engineering or industrial automation experience.
• Strong hands-on Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLC programming.
• Experience with Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, and PanelView.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms.
• Design, configure, and enhance HMI applications using FactoryTalk and PanelView technologies.
• Develop additional functionality for existing industrial automation systems.
• Support new controls development and customer-specific system modifications.
• Integrate PLC/HMI applications with industrial equipment and customer control systems.
• Support integration with distributed control systems (DCS) and industrial networks.
• Review and modify electrical drawings, schematics, and controls documentation.
• Troubleshoot PLC logic, industrial communications, and system performance issues.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop reliable and efficient automation solutions.
• Participate in equipment testing, startup, commissioning, and implementation.
• Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements and resolve automation challenges.
• Take ownership of assigned controls projects from development through implementation.
• Support the modernization and continued development of established automation platforms.
• Travel to customer facilities for installation, commissioning, and technical support as required.
