Job summary

Tompkins Solutions LLC seeks a Sr. Controls Engineer in Orlando to lead PLC and HMI programming and on-site commissioning for material handling projects.

You will work closely with Electrical Engineers, System Architects, and Project Managers throughout project lifecycles. The role requires hands-on experience with PLCs, Ethernet networks, VFDs, scanners, scales, and safety practices, with travel up to 30%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Electrical, Electronic or Controls Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in PLC and HMI programming creation.
• Experience in configuring and commissioning devices (VFDs, scanners, scales, MDR).
• Experience in configuring Ethernet-based communications networks.
• Experience in electrical and PLC safety circuits and codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead PLC and HMI programming for large projects.
• Coordinate onsite implementations and commissioning.
• Design and configure communication architectures (PLCs, IO, Ethernet).
• Provide technical support to internal and external teams.
• Prepare proposals and document project deliverables.
