Job summary

Aperture Group is seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to lead controls engineering for complex material handling and warehouse automation projects. This role will own controls execution from electrical design and PLC programming through commissioning and customer handoff.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in controls/automation, hands-on experience with conveyor or warehouse systems, and strong leadership skills. Up to 50% travel is expected in two-week rotations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of controls/automation experience or equivalent senior-level experience.
• Material handling, conveyor, or warehouse automation experience required.
• Strong PLC programming skills, including programming custom systems from scratch.
• Electrical controls design experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• HMI/SCADA development experience; Ignition experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of industrial networks and automation communication protocols.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to independently own controls projects from design through commissioning.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls engineering for Distribution & Fulfillment (D&F) projects, including conveyor and material handling systems.
• Develop electrical controls designs, including device layouts, panel designs, schematics, networks, and component selection.
• Develop and modify PLC programs for custom automated systems.
• Create and support HMI/SCADA applications.
• Support system testing, commissioning, startup, and field troubleshooting.
• Serve as the controls technical lead in internal, customer, vendor, and subcontractor meetings.
• Mentor junior engineers and support the development of controls standards, reusable code, and engineering tools.
• Collaborate with mechanical, project management, and field teams throughout project execution.
