Job summary

Ember Grey in North Carolina is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer – Controls to lead controls and automation across major manufacturing projects. You will own architecture, PLC/HMI/SCADA, industrial networking, commissioning, and sustained improvements, partnering with Manufacturing, IT/OT, and external partners.

The role requires deep hands-on expertise, mentoring engineers, and delivering safe, reliable systems from concept through startup and production handover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in industrial controls, automation, or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong PLC/HMI/SCADA experience and integration across facilities.
• Leadership for complex automation projects and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls engineering for major automation and capital projects from concept to handover.
• Design and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and control systems for complex operations.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate across Manufacturing, IT/OT, Maintenance.
• Develop control narratives, network architectures, and engineering packages.
• Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, startup, and production ramp-up.
