Job summary

Haumiller Engineering in Belvidere, IL seeks a Controls Engineer - Hardware Design to develop electrical and pneumatic designs for automated systems. The role requires 6+ years in hardware design and experience with electrical panels and pneumatics, with 100% on‑site work in Belvidere and up to 10% travel.

You will generate schematics, BOMs, and documentation, ensure compliance with safety standards, and collaborate with engineers and machine builders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and hands‑on experience in automation or industrial machinery.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience focused on hardware design for industrial controls systems.
• Experience with electrical panels and pneumatics design.
• Proficient in creating one‑line diagrams, control schematics, and panel layouts.
• Familiar with NFPA 79, NEC, UL 508A, ISO 12100 and related safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyze design requirements and develop electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and bills of material (BOMs).
• Create cost‑effective electrical and pneumatic designs meeting performance, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Generate detailed documentation to support manufacturing and field integration, including drawings and schematics.
• Identify improvements to tools, processes and workflows to reduce design errors and improve efficiency.
• Perform electrical rework on existing systems and support machine builders with troubleshooting.
