Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Controls Systems Engineer to own hands‑on design, programming, commissioning, and sustained operation of controls across our manufacturing environment.

You will architect PLC systems, build SCADA/HMI apps, and integrate robots, serving as the technical authority across MES, ERP, WMS, QMS, PLC and SCADA layers. This role emphasizes deep technical leadership on the factory floor with high autonomy, focusing on safety, reliability, and cycle‑time improvements from pilot

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years hands‑on experience in controls engineering or industrial automation.
• Experience deploying control systems from pilot to volume production (FAT, SAT, commissioning).
• Hands‑on experience designing and programming PLC architecture (Siemens TIA Portal and/or Rockwell Studio 5000/ControlLogix).
• Experience with SCADA/HMI design, deployment, and management (Ignition, FactoryTalk, WinCC).
• Experience in production environments and working with system integrators.

Responsibilities

• Design and program PLC architecture for pilot through high‑volume production.
• Develop and enforce controls standards across hardware, software, and networking.
• Design, deploy, and maintain SCADA/HMI layer with real‑time line visibility.
• Implement automation and robot integration across cells with safety and maintainability.
• Lead line deployment activities including commissioning, ramp, and handover to operations.
• Collaborate with MES/ERP/WMS/QMS to enable data flow from shop floor to enterprise systems.
• Drive reliability improvements through root cause analysis and countermeasures.
• Create documentation and playbooks to support repeatable line launches.
