Job summary

iRiS Recruiting Solutions is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join a growing food and beverage manufacturing operation on the East Coast. You will design, implement, and optimize PLC/automation systems across processing, filling, packaging, and material handling, coordinating with Production and Maintenance to minimize downtime.

You will lead commissioning, startup activities, and control upgrades, while mentoring teams and managing contractors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, controls, automation engineering, or a related discipline.
5+ years of controls or electrical engineering experience.
Strong PLC programming with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and/or Siemens.
Experience with HMIs, VFDs, robotics, motion control, instrumentation, and industrial networks.
Food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or high-speed manufacturing experience preferred.
Startup, commissioning, and equipment installation experience.

Responsibilities

Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion controls, VFDs, instrumentation, industrial networks, and data systems.
Develop control architecture, electrical designs, programming standards, and components across processing, filling, packaging, and material handling.
Partner with Production and Maintenance to solve complex controls issues, identify root causes, and reduce downtime.
Lead controls upgrades, automation improvements, installations, startups, and commissioning.
Coordinate electricians, contractors, schedules, budgets, and equipment implementation.
Train Maintenance and Operations teams on controls systems and troubleshooting.
