Job summary

Magna Seating seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the controls engineering function for automated manufacturing in a high-volume automotive setting.

You will direct a team of controls engineers, drive improvements for productivity and safety, and design, install, and commission PLC-based control systems with extensive HMI/SCADA development across platforms. Collaboration with IT and maintenance is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic or similar engineering field preferable.
• Minimum seven years of experience as Controls Technologist or related field.
• Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms and HMI applications.
• Knowledge of industrial networks and vision/inspection systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily direction of Controls Engineers and Technologists.
• Drive equipment improvement projects to boost productivity, quality, availability and safety.
• Design, install, and commission PLC-based control systems with I/O checkout, testing and startup support.
• Develop and optimize HMI/SCADA systems (Citect, FactoryTalk, RS Studio 5000, CIMPLICITY) with IT collaboration.
• Troubleshoot PLC-related issues and improve system reliability.
• Develop robotic, safety, and vision systems; maintain documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance and production teams.
