Job summary

Doerfer Companies seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to lead electrical design, PLC programming, and motion control for custom automation projects. You will create electrical drawings, write software for PLCs and operator interfaces, and support installation at client sites.

The role requires five years of machine controls experience, strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Beckhoff software, and the ability to manage project scope with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent tech field.
• Minimum five years designing machine controls.
• Experience programming PLCs, motion control, operator interfaces, and data acquisition equipment.
• Working knowledge of Windows-based PCs and software.
• Ability to perform complex analysis and lead teams.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with NEC, JIC and related codes; experience with AutoCAD.
• Experience with Beckhoff software; knowledge of AGVs/AMRs and traffic control systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop machine control concepts and estimates with Project Manager.
• Write technical sections of proposals and present concepts, schedules, and milestones.
• Create electrical drawings interfacing components and control hardware.
• Perform electrical design calculations and select control hardware.
• Write PLC, motion control, and operator interface software; support electrical designers.
• Monitor project scope changes and report to Project Manager.
• Coordinate electrical fabrication support and installation with clients and internal teams.
• Provide training to team members and interact with managers and hourly staff.
