Job summary

Aggreko plc is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the design and deployment of SCADA and BESS controls for large scale data center projects in Houston or New Iberia. You will drive specifications, perform field commissioning, and ensure reliability and power quality at scale.

The role requires an ABET‑level engineering degree, 6+ years of energy industry experience, and strong communication skills. Travel may be required to support site needs and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field (ABET accredited or approved equal).
• 6+ years relevant experience in energy/controls engineering.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes BESS, Controls, and SCADA specifications for feasible designs.
• Uses engineering software (AutoCAD, ETAP, ACSELERATOR) for tasks.
• Assesses feasibility of new applications considering costs and spaces.
• Provides technical information on materials and process trade-offs.
• Performs field commissioning, testing, and integration of controls.

Job description

Bring your energy to Aggreko as Senior Controls Engineer based in Houston or New Iberia. You will lead engineering responsibilities for process, procedures, specifications, and design of SCADA and BESS controls for independent power production for large scale data center developers at rapid pace, near perfect reliability and power quality expectations, and efficient fuel usage for variable use cases.

What you’ll do as Senior Controls Engineer:

• Analyzes BESS, Controls, and SCADA products or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
• Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to BESS, Controls, and SCADA and equipment design. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. AutoCAD, ETAP, ACSELERATOR, etc.
• Determines feasibility of designing new applications considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
• Provides technical information concerning applications, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect planning.
• Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment. Performs field commissioning, testing and integration of controls and SCADA systems.
• Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry.

You are:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering field (ABET accredited or approved equal. Electrical or others with energy industry work experience)
• Resourceful problem solver with proven experience collaborating with various stakeholders to reach successful project outcomes
• 6+ years relevant experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language
• Strong technical knowledge and hands‑on experience in energy field and excellent analytical and decision‑making skills and ability to articulate
• Availability to travel to support business needs and for training and in possession of valid local Driving License as per the need of the business
