Job summary

Yanfeng in Louisville, KY seeks an experienced electrical engineer/electrician for our automotive electronics team. You will diagnose malfunctions, install and commission control equipment, and develop electrical specifications for system modifications.

You will program Allen Bradley PLCs, work with hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and train maintenance staff. Occasional travel to customer sites and plants is required; join a global leader in mobility solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years as an electronic engineer or electrician or similar.
• At least 5–9 years in the automotive industry.
• Willingness to travel and work at customer sites, including plants, possibly in confined spaces.
• Special knowledge of electronic design systems.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems related to controls.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve causes of electrical and mechanical malfunctions on all equipment.
• Assist the maintenance department in installing new electronic/electrical control equipment and making it operational.
• Develop engineering specifications for electrical control systems and equipment modifications.
• Provide technical support to the maintenance department; plan and record periodic electrical analysis on production equipment.
• Recommend and initiate modifications or replacement of equipment meeting operating standards.
• Provide training for the maintenance department on machine controls and motor controllers.
• Research and implement cost effective upgrades to equipment and facilities.
• Keep updated electrical drawings and schematics and maintain backups for machine programs.
• Recommend electrical spare parts inventory to maximise machine utilization.
• Develop programming for PLCs, robots and Panel Views to maximize quality and production.
• Comply with Quality, EHS, Product Safety and Compliance requirements.
• Adhere to IT / Information Security and confidentiality requirements.
• Work overtime as needed; multi-task and interact professionally with stakeholders.
• Maintain attendance and be on location on time.

• Recommend the electrical spare parts inventory for all new and existing production equipment to insure maximum machine utilization.
• Develop programming and provide support for Programmable Logic Controllers, robots and Panel Views to maximize both quality and production.

• Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS): Understand, apply and meet all function-related EHS requirements.
• Product Safety: Understand, apply and meet all function-related Product Safety requirements.

• Ability to maintain predictable and regular attendance, arrive to designated location on time, or be at assigned location ready to work for assignment (plant, corporate office, or remote).

Required Qualifications

• 5-7 Minimum Years of Experience as an electronic engineer, electrician or similar.
• 5-9 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
• Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
• Special knowledge of electronic design systems.
• Ability to program and interface Allen Bradley drives and controls systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as it relates to controls of such systems.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming.
