Sr. Controls Engineer

You will be part of one of our 45 US offices, joining a dedicated team of over 1,500 professionals. As a Controls Engineer at Design Group, you will be challenged and supported to develop into a world-class professional. In this role, you will collaborate with industry experts to solve complex problems for leading companies, supporting our Control System Integration Practice through project delivery and client engagement.

What You’ll Do

• Design automation control systems, including specifications, documentation, and drawings for high-speed and automated manufacturing processes.
• Participate in automation project phases: software configuration, testing, commissioning, installation, and start-up.
• Lead project execution, including team leadership, SCADA design, PLC and HMI programming, and site start-up support.
• Maintain and develop client relationships.
• Troubleshoot packaging lines, process systems, and software systems.
• Manage multiple project responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Contribute daily with your skills and expertise to strengthen client and team relationships.

What You’ll Bring

• At least seven years of automation experience with HMI, SCADA, PLCs, and control system design.
• Experience in packaging and process controls within the consumer products, life sciences, or food and beverage industries (preferred).
• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
• Experience with FactoryTalk, Wonderware, VisualBasic/C#/Java (preferred).
• Engineering consulting experience (preferred).
• Strong client interaction skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel for project needs, including installation, start-up, and industry events.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or related field (preferred).
