Title: Lead Controls Engineer

Position Overview

The Lead Controls Engineer will oversee the design, development, and implementation of control systems for our facility. We have 30 PLC's, 60 VFD,s and 600 IO Points. You will be managing all of these. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, guiding a team of engineers to deliver high-quality automation solutions that meet our production specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of control systems for industrial automation projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to define control system requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of controls engineers, providing guidance and support throughout project phases.
  • Develop and implement control strategies using Allen Bradley PLCs and Ladder Logic programming.
  • Design and integrate Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and servo motor control systems into automation solutions.
  • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure compliance with engineering standards and client requirements.
  • Prepare documentation, including system specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in control systems, providing technical support to clients and team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or enough over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in controls engineering and automation.
  • Proven experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Ladder Logic programming.
  • Strong knowledge of VFD and servo motor technologies.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience in networking and SCADA systems integration.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
