Location: FULL-TIME REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)

This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture with strong private equity backing, focused on developing, executing, and operating dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They have accumulated over 9GW+ of projects nationwide, including a fleet of grid-connected, standalone battery storage assets.

The Sr. Energy Storage SCADA Engineer is a critical role that will drive the Asset Management strategy in Instrumentation, SCADA, and Automated Control Systems across the portfolio. It is a hands-on role leading the development of control system architecture and methodologies for innovative utility-scale renewable projects involving battery storage technology. The architecture will also integrate with a proprietary, data-driven decision-making platform. Candidates must have SCADA commissioning or site-based SCADA integration experience and be willing to travel up to 50%.

The company is committed to expanding renewable infrastructure and offers competitive compensation, including a base salary, open PTO policy, flexible hours, 401K match, comprehensive health benefits, and the opportunity to work with a transparent executive team.

Responsibilities
  • Act as an SME for all instrumentation, SCADA, and automated control systems for energy storage initiatives.
  • Own control systems architecture, integrations, algorithms, network models, and design build-outs based on ISO/RTO requirements.
  • Lead electrical control systems modeling or programming using tools like Python, MATLAB/Simulink, C, C++, or C#.
  • Manage SCADA and substation automation system integration, including HMI, PPI, and RTU programming.
  • Develop and implement SCADA operating procedures compliant with ISO/RTO and NERC standards.
  • Assess grid-tied inverter software and hardware solutions.
  • Evaluate battery storage dispatch models, management systems, inverters, and relay logic to optimize assets.
  • Provide infrastructure requirements for interconnection controls based on load requests and transmission agreements.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including developers, regulatory bodies, ISOs, and internal teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, focusing on Power Control Architecture, SCADA, IC&E, or Automation Systems.
  • Experience in SCADA commissioning, site reviews, and project execution.
  • Expertise in electrical control systems modeling or programming with Python, MATLAB/Simulink, C, C++, or C#.
  • Hands-on experience with inverter controls, battery storage, and renewable energy system integration protocols.
  • Ability to conduct technical assessments of inverter software and hardware solutions.
  • Proficiency in defining SCADA/EMS operational scopes, design, and requirements.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relations with ISO/RTO and transmission entities.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA, dispatcher power flow, OTS, UI, automatic control, and data alarm processing.
