Job summary

Leoforce in Allentown, PA is seeking a senior Controls & Automation Engineer to lead PLC programming, electrical design, and integration of conveyor, robotic, and automation projects. The role covers design through commissioning, startup, and support with strong customer-facing communication skills.

The candidate will develop PLC software, design electrical schematics, support HMI/SCADA, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Travel up to 40% is expected; a BS in engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of controls engineering experience.
• Strong Allen Bradley PLC programming experience.
• Experience designing systems to NEC/NFPA/UL standards.
• Experience creating electrical schematics and panel designs.
• Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems.
• Experience with fieldbus technologies.
• Experience commissioning industrial automation systems.
• Strong understanding of sensors, RFID systems, and industrial controls.
• Travel 25%–40%.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support PLC and automation software solutions.
• Perform electrical hardware engineering and controls design.
• Create electrical schematics and panel designs.
• Design and support HMI/SCADA applications.
• Commission machinery and automation systems.
• Support startup activities and customer acceptance testing.
• Program and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC systems.
• Configure motion control and servo systems.
• Support robotic integration projects.
• Assist with sales support, quoting, and conceptual design.
• Train customers on system operation and maintenance.
• Manage controls-related project deliverables and subprojects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues during implementation.
• Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards.
