Job summary

Simple Mining, a fast-growing Bitcoin mining hosting company based in Iowa, is seeking a hands-on Controller to own day-to-day accounting and scale the finance function. You will lead month-end close, shorten close cycles, and drive a NetSuite implementation going live January 2027.

You will report to the Head of Finance, partner across teams, and build strong internal controls while guiding the accounting team through complex close processes and revenue recognition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 9+ years of accounting experience including both public accounting and private industry.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge and experience running a full close.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements.
• Own the close end to end with balance sheet reconciliations and GL accuracy.
• Lead the NetSuite implementation and own the system and chart of accounts.
• Manage external audit fieldwork and audit process.
• Develop internal controls, accounting policies and SOPs for SOX readiness.
• Oversee revenue recognition (ASC 606) and multi-stream billing.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Advise on ASC 718/842/805/850 and IRC 409A, and support tax work.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team (AP, AR and payroll).
