Century Group is partnering with a client to recruit an Assistant Controller in California. Exact compensation may vary based on skills and location. Starting base salary is $200,000 to $230,000 per year.

You will lead accounting staff, oversee property accounting and financial reporting, and coordinate audits, tax, and compliance for a large real estate portfolio. Strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel are required; experience with property management software is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with concentration in accounting.
• Active CPA credential or CPA exam progress.
• 10+ years of property accounting experience and 5+ years of leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and real estate accounting.
• Experience with property accounting software and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise accounting personnel ensuring timely financial activities.
• Oversee property accounting operations, including reporting, budgeting, and portfolio accounting.
• Review financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and consolidated reports.
• Coordinate audit, tax, and compliance activities with external providers.
• Drive process improvements and staff development initiatives.
