Job summary

Brookfield Residential in Costa Mesa is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting team, manage daily transactions, and coordinate the monthly and year-end close with a focus on accuracy and timely reporting.

You will maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, support SOX compliance, prepare financial statements, and mentor staff while partnering with Operations and IT to strengthen processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• CPA designation required; minimum 6+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and manage complex postings.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
• Review reconciliations and intercompany activity.
• Lead audit coordination with internal/external teams.
• Support SOX controls and internal control improvements.
• Develop reports for management and board packs.
