Vortex Companies, LLC in Martinsville, VA is seeking a hands-on Controller to own GAAP‑compliant, audit‑readiness financial statements in a multi-location manufacturing environment. You will partner with SVP Finance and site leadership to build standardized processes as the finance function grows from scratch.

The role is fully onsite, requiring strong technical accounting and the ability to implement cost standards, intercompany elimination, and EBITDA reporting for sponsor reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including 2–3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and accrual accounting fundamentals.
• Experience in a private equity–backed environment with sponsor reporting cadence.
• Manufacturing industry accounting experience including standard costing and inventory valuation.
• Strong ERP systems experience; NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly close process end-to-end per close calendar.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain accrual roll-forwards for Inventory, Warranty, Bad Debt, Commissions, Taxes, and more.
• Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition across project-based revenue streams.
• Own P&L by location reporting and EBITDA bridge reporting.
• Assist sponsor and board-level reporting with audit-ready documents.
• Manage intercompany transactions and eliminations; support consolidation.
• Develop standard costing in NetSuite and SOPs for accounting processes.
