Job summary

American Millwork Corp. in Elkhart, IN is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial reporting functions.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong technical accounting expertise, integrity, and sound business judgment. The Controller will oversee month-end close, general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and internal controls, partner with leadership on budgeting and forecasting, and support cost accounting and IT oversight as a bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, includingController or senior accounting responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close and financial statements.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance leaders.
• High integrity and sound business judgment.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations: GL, AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations.
• Manage monthly and annual close process.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Oversee cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning with leadership.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax, and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial partners.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and reporting.
• Develop and monitor meaningful financial KPIs.
• Oversee risk management including collections and insurance for property and employee benefits.
