Job summary

Andrews & Cole, LLC in Herndon, VA is seeking a senior accounting leader to build and mentor a high-performing team within a rapidly growing federal contracting environment. You will own operational accounting, close processes, cost accounting, and compliance, driving automation and process improvements across the function.

The role requires 10+ years of leadership in accounting, experience with government contracting, and Deltek Costpoint proficiency (CPA preferred).

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience including operational accounting.
• Experience in government contracting.
• Public company experience preferred, Big 4/auditing public companies.
• Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems, especially Deltek Costpoint.
• Active CPA license strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across departments.
• Strong knowledge of government contractor accounting, US GAAP, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead all operational accounting including general ledger, month-end close, and reconciliations.
• Manage transaction processing including A/P, billing, and payroll.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting and analysis across statements and project reporting.
• Develop and maintain accounting processes, policies, and internal controls; ensure balance sheet integrity.
• Lead quarterly SEC reporting support and annual external audits.
• Oversee cost accounting across cost-type, T&M, and fixed-price contracts; support EAC processes.
