Job summary

DEFCON AI, Inc. is seeking a Controller to own accounting, financial close, compliance, and reporting for a fast-growing defense technology company serving DoD and commercial customers. The role is hybrid from the McLean, VA office with at least one day per week in the office.

You will lead a small accounting team, ensure audit-ready financials, and maintain a DCAA-compliant environment, partnering with the CFO and executive team on strategic finance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Active CPA required and experience owning financial close.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.
• Experience with government contracting including FAR, DFARS, DCAA audits.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close under U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare audited financial statements and board reports.
• Maintain a DCAA-compliant accounting system and timekeeping.
• Manage government contract accounting, including indirect rates and incurred cost submissions.
• Lead annual external audits and coordinate with auditors.
