Job summary

The Nautical Group, a Raleigh-based technology advisory firm, seeks a Controller to oversee accounting operations, close processes, reporting, and internal controls. This leader will drive the financial close, manage complex sales commissions, supervise audits, and support integrating acquired businesses.

Qualifications

• Own the financial close process, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls for GAAP compliance.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for leadership, lenders and PE sponsors.
• Lead the external audit process and coordinate with auditors.
• Oversee complex sales commission calculations and reporting across structures.
• Oversee accounting systems improvement, including NetSuite and Ramp.
• Partner with the CFO on automation and integration of acquired entities.
• Lead and develop the accounting team for growth.

Responsibilities

• Own the financial close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, management analysis, and reporting for executive leadership, lenders, and private equity sponsors.
• Lead the external audit process, coordinating directly with auditors and outside advisors.
• Oversee complex sales commission calculations, accounting, and reporting across multiple structures and acquired businesses.
• Manage and improve accounting systems, including NetSuite and Ramp, to strengthen financial processes and reporting.
• Partner with the CFO on accounting automation, process improvements, and the financial integration of acquired companies.
• Lead and develop the accounting team, establishing accountability and supporting continued growth.
