Job summary

Align Credit Union is seeking a VP Controller to lead the Accounting Department, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting. This role collaborates with Risk, Lending, IT, and other functions to strengthen controls and compliance while supporting strategic decisions.

The position reports to the President & CEO, with close partnership to the SVP of Finance on cash management and investments.

Qualifications

• Strong accounting leadership and oversight of financial reporting.
• Experience preparing regulatory filings (NCUA Call Report).
• Knowledge of CECL/credit losses and allowances.
• Experience with ALCO and balance sheet management.
• Ability to collaborate across functions to improve controls and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Accounting Department, GL, AP, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and regulatory filings.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis for management and board.
• Oversee CECL calculations and loss allowances with Risk/Lending.
• Strengthen internal controls and enterprise risk management.
• Provide ALCO support for liquidity, risk, and capital planning.
• Be the finance systems subject matter expert for DNA and related interfaces.
• Coordinate with auditors/regulators and address findings.
• Present financial insights to the President/CEO and senior leadership.
• Develop Accounting staff and drive process improvements.
