Job summary

The Toro Company, headquartered in Bloomington, MN, is seeking an Assistant Controller to provide enterprise accounting leadership across consolidation, financial close, and cost accounting. You will lead a team of two direct reports and about twenty professionals, partnering with the Corporate Controller to ensure accurate, timely financial information and scalable processes.

This role drives governance, talent development, and modernization of controllership operations, including automation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; master's degree preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with leadership responsibility.
• Experience in a complex, public-company, multi-entity environment with manufacturing preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading financial close, consolidation, and cross-functional process improvement.
• Experience with ERP, consolidation, reconciliation, and financial reporting systems; finance transformation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes with clear timelines and escalations.
• Oversee the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and schedules per U.S. GAAP and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate inputs for external reporting and SEC filings with stakeholders.
• Review significant, complex, or unusual transactions and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
• Monitor close performance, reporting accuracy, and balance sheet integrity; drive corrective actions.
• Oversee core accounting activities including general accounting, consolidations, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and reconciliations.
• Partner with Finance Technology and IT to improve ERP and reporting capabilities; ensure governance in system initiatives.
• Establish performance measures and use root-cause analysis for continuous improvement.
• Leverage AI/ML and other technologies to automate close, consolidation and ledger data validation.
